About me
BARRETT POE
You don’t need my whole life story so we’ll start at a point where I started becoming an adult. I attended the University of Oregon, played lacrosse at a very high level, and I had every intention of getting a business degree. When you don’t know what you want to do in college at 18 years old, a business degree is the “that could work anywhere” option. The much wiser 20 year old me (who am I kidding, I was still a big kid) changed my major to Advertising and started doing a ton of multimedia work in the process. I cruised through college from that point on, attained my bachelor’s degree and a minor in sports business in 2019. I learned a lot, gained lifelong friends, but once I was done with school I didn't realize how much I didn’t know. I quickly learned that wasn’t a bad thing!
Post-graduation, 2019-2020, was hard on everyone and finding a “career job“ seemed like an impossible task. In October of that year, I successfully registered my own business and became a professional photographer working with smaller clients in the Central Oregon area. That head-first dive into photography, and more importantly something I really enjoyed doing, helped me land an incredible job in early 2021 that ballooned my portfolio to where it is now. I gained new experiences, a boat-load of desirable new skills, and a huge sense of self-confidence and worth. Now, it’s time to see where & how I can keep applying those to myself and another ~ lucky ~ company to continue that trend of growth.
I’m confident in my ability to work a camera and produce great images, and my portfolio reflects that, and unfortunately only that. I’m a driven hard worker, a selfless teammate, a mentor, a friend, a coach, and (arguably most important) a student. I’m always on a path of personal-growth, and if I’m lucky, that path can help those around me along the way.
My portfolio shows off my work, but it doesn't show off Barrett Poe. Everyone, well maybe not everyone, likes beer so let’s start a conversation over one of those and see where that takes us!
